it's no secret (at least i don't think it is, anyway) that i am obsessed with all things denim right now. here are some of my favorite outfits incorporating that most versatile of materials.

it is one of my greatest achievements when i find a designer piece at the thrift. especially when it's half price and comes in at a whopping $2.50. WOOT! i got these jeans at my favorite store, the manna center. it was in the 'juniors denim' section and the tag even said 'teen' on it. i think that's how they remained undiscovered. i mean, what teenage girl would buy these? they don't really scream 'high school cool girl' to me. but they do scream 'thirty year old mom.' and that's just what i am :)

thrifted jeans are fast becoming my favorite. they're already well worn and broken in. perfect. and i am embracing my love of denim right now. and really pants in general. i know that skirts and dresses are more blogger mainstream, but i think i'm a jeans girl at heart. i am most comfortable and confident in them. and isn't that what it's all about? i think so.

but it's going to be deliciously warm tomorrow so i probs will wear something short, just cuz.

the calm

around these parts, we're gearing up not just for the royal wedding (UGH!) but for our annual dogwood festival! it starts tomorrow morning, and the venders started showing up yesterday afternoon. thankfully, the weather is supposed to cooperate. but it's always a fun time, with different craft (and crap) booths, festival food, 5k race, music, and tons of people. my shop will be open all weekend long and i hope to have crazy sales.

so today is the calm before the storm, if you will. or the calm after the literal storm. huh. interesting.......

so i wore my fomaxi pants again. they are just the comfiest things. a wee transparent though. i think it's best i be more careful with these. in one pic (i DELETED it) you could totally see where my underpants ended and my leg began. scandalous.

i know that for a while double denim was all the rage. heck, i even tried it a few times before. but i'm not one to lay an aging fashion trend to rest, especially before it has been properly done to death. for some reason, i just wanted to give it another go. and you know what? i LOVED it. even more than before. ladies, you may see this again.

and boy howdy am i obsessed with this bag. one of these days i'm going to do a 'what's in my bag' post so you can see just how much crap i can stuff inside. it's like the clown car of bags. seriously.

as i'm typing this at 8:00 monday night, IT IS NO LONGER RAINING!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!! so very happy :)

today was pretty much a washout. these pics were taken when it was sprinkling before i went out to the grocery (which is why my hair is a bit cray-cray from the extra moisture in the air). we have to park riesling under a carport across the street because she's got a bit of a leak problem. rain gets in through the sunroof and pools along the floorboards. cool, huh? i love her anyway.

and what better day than a rainy day to pull out the ol' boaters. man i love these shoes. i had a pair similar when i was a wee lass but i never knew how to twirl the laces. these came pre-twirled. that makes my heart glad.

wild weekend

what a weekend we had!! yikes.

k, so this was friday. it started out beautiful! warm and sunny, i even got to sun myself out on the deck in the afternoon. i was actually a little too hot to wear this long sleeve shirt. just delicious.

then came the storms. we were on our way to a friends house in tulsa (1.5 hour away), and got about 5 minutes down the road when the tornado sirens went off. awesome. the sky looked CRAZY SCARY. the wall cloud was right in front of us. we turned around to come back home, and thankfully, the worst of the weather went just north of us. but this pic was right as the storm was passing.

this was the gorgeous ride over to tulsa. the sky was golden and the setting sun made the prettiest streaks in the sky. behind us, there was another storm, but our drive was rain free.

we met our friends stacy and david at casey's house around 9pm. it was late, but super fun.

i LOVE this pic! it's so typical matt. he has a photo face, and this is pretty much it. but even better is david in the background!

it was a wildly busy weekend but full of great memories. i was really disappointed yesterday when the torrential rain that lasted ALL DAY LONG prevented me from wearing my easter dress or really doing anything but laying on the sofa after church. oh, well. here's to monday!

good friday

the weather has been such a drag lately. it's been sunny and warm one minute and literally hailing golfballs the next. and rain, rain, rain...........but i'm the one who asked for spring, right? booooooooooo!

but today is good friday! which in one way, it's a very somber and reflective holiday. but then, for me, it's the promise of what happened on sunday morning 2000 years ago. i do most definitely celebrate easter sunday :)

but we do have a busy weekend ahead of us. we're going to visit friends tonight, spending time with my family tomorrow, and going to a birthday party saturday night, and of course church on sunday. busy, but super fun. and i even have a cute 70s sundress for easter. if the weather cooperates, sheesh!
