living in a powder keg and giving off sparks

song of the day: total eclipse of the heart by bonnie tyler
gosh, i did a horrible job of hiding the remote this time. you can see it in every picture. oh well. this dress is so comfortable and i really only wear it around the house or to run small errands because it's now off-black with all the washings. i've considered buying a black fabric dye to freshen it up a bit. have any of you ever done such a thing? does it work or is it not not worth the trouble? this dress used to have pockets but it was way too big for me so i took up the side seams and had to forgo the pockets, much to my chagrin. i guess i could've reattached them, but that would've been much more involved and taken up a lot more of my precious time so i cut them out. i mean, i totally couldn't spare an extra five minutes in my day to sew around the pockets. i told you i was lazy!
and i haven't worn makeup for the last few days. i need to do a complete overhaul of my stuff as my face is breaking out like crazy! i'm giving it a break and will try and make it to the store to find something different. i am way to old to be dealing with this crap.

Now you've gotten "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in my head :-)

Love the wedges.

This outfit looks awesome and so comfy! I totally would have done the same thing of not cutting out the pockets. I always have huge sewing aspirations, and then never end up doing what I had planned.

LOVE easy loose dresses! So good! You look so great! I don't mind seeing the remote. In fact I didn't even really notice till you said something. If I had a remote I would proudly let it appear in any of my photos. Such a great device!

I'm kind of fussy that my tar-jet didn't have those funky colored wedges.. although my pins aren't as toned and tanned as yours so maybe that's a good thing. I'm having a hard time transitioning to summer this year.. I think because my body went into actual hibernation and isn't prepared to bare itself to the world...

ps.. please keep the bragging to meeting up with Ms Starr and Ms Annie to a min.. I'm jealous enough as it is, I don't need you hussies flaunting it in my face :P

I think it's gorgeous, even without the pockets! I can totally understand lazy alterations... if I couldn't be lazy about it, I don't think I'd ever alter anything!

It's easy to re-dye black clothes (I've done it often; adds another 4-6 months of life to a garment). Just toss the dye (check the package for usage; one box of Rit powdered dye is enough for maybe a couple tee shirts- better to use more dye, rather than less) with your detergent and some salt into the washer. Wash hot, rinse cold.

Probably best to then run a cycle through with just hot water and bleach to remove any dye build-up.

I don't know about re-dying the dress... hmmm, you should ask the store if they know what's the best way to go about that. Either way, it's a nice, simple black dress that looks comfortable. Whenever I see a black dress with a nice cut and silhouette, I want it... so I have like tens of black dresses, it's crazy!

I can't find the remote in any of these pictures and I have been looking for it for at least 30 seconds (which is a lot of time in internet terms!) Anyways you look great, this dress may be simple but it stills has a great impact.

I couldn't find the remote either! I really love the faded look, especially on your skin tone, you look like a bronzed goddess!

I love your ramblings! And I think the dress looks just fine as is! But the fabric dye is quite easy and really does work!

Love this look on you too. So simple and sweet!

Oh, and did I already recommend to you to try Norwex clothes for your skin? All you use is the cloth (no cleanser or make up remover or anything). Since I've been washing my face like this I have had the best skin of my life (there is silver in the face clothes which is naturally antibacterial).

You look so freakin gorgeous in all of these photos! I love that dress and I hear ya about the whole pocket thing...how could I possibly take 5min out of my day to do something small like that?! Ha, it's sad but I really feel like I don't do the simple things enough and I really need to find a way to get them back in my day.

I have horrible skin and I am 27. I had great skin until I was 23 and then boom....horrid-ness. Ok so not a word, but not the point. I had to go on anti-biotics to cure it. And it has come back a few times anyways. Despite the fact that I have access to so much beauty product in my career, I only find temporary solutions. I have SO much product that honestly, I would be happy to send you some. I have found the best that works on my skin are sulfur products. Specifically DDF Sulfur mask. For me, that works the best. I also do a peel once or twice a week and that makes a HUGE difference. I try to use a natural peel and one that isn't incredibly harsh.

Well, let me know if you want anything to try. trust me, it would be doing me a favor...I have so much of it.
