11-2
just wanted to let you all know that i am guest blogging for the lovely ms. morgan of morgan and lua today. please go on over and check it out! lots more pictures and a cute little story to boot.
and, just to fill you in, yesterday while running, i got attacked by a pit bull. he ran in front of me and wouldn't let me by and then started jumping on me. i tried pushing him away and kicking him and then he started biting me. at one point the dog got me on the ground and the pavement really scraped up my elbow and knee. my shirt got ripped pretty good and i have scrapes and bite marks all up my right side and one on the back of my thigh. it scared the crap out of me. but the thing that makes it worse is that the owner of the dog had been warned by animal control a number of times before. the dog wasn't chained or inside the fence and he's scratched someone before. plus the owners house is right across the street from the kindergarten! where my son goes to school! and he was out on the playground when it happened. thankfully he didn't see it, but it makes me crazy to think about what could've happened. anyways, enough about me :)

Not all pit bulls are dangerous. It's bad owners that are to blame for the few and far between "bad" pit bulls. For instance, I have the sweetest, most loving pit bull ever. Two of her best friends include a 10 year old and a 3 year old and me of course!

Agree, it wasn't the fact that it was a pit bull, it was the fact that the owner didn't control their dog! But that's scary, I worry about that every time I go out for a run. I heard that if you stop and stand still, the dog will eventually lose interest. I hope you're ok!!

I'm so glad you're okay. It's sad that pit bulls get a bad rap but I think a lot of times its because a lot of people that choose to get pitbulls buy into the reputation they have and then train their dogs accordingly. It's such a horrible situation and there is really no great outcome but I'm glad you just left with some scrapes. On the bright side, I absolutely love that skirt and the pairing with these boots is perfect! I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Dogs in general, especially strange ones, can be scary and I'm glad you made it out of this situation okay for the most part. It's just really frustrating to here "pit bulls" get a bad rap. For instance, did you know that "pit bull" is not even an actual breed? It's used today almost as a derogatory term in association with staffordshire terriers and their american counterparts. I wish that owners, such as the ones you encountered received harsher punishments for cruel treatment, and their terrible choices in training.

By the way, since this is mostly a fashion blog I love today's photo and outfit. It's very fairy tale-esque!

i am so, so glad you're okay. again, its true - pits are a strong breed and should really only be handled by experienced owners.

really, really glad your injuries are minor....but i cannot imagine how terrifying that must have been.

A pit bull is a fearless dog that will take on any opponent. They will lock their jaws onto the prey until it's dead. Pit bulls have a reputation of mauling people to death and they are highly sought for dog fighting.

"Through January 20, 2002, the log of life-threatening and fatal attacks showed that pit bulls had committed 592 (45%) of the 1,301 total attacks qualifying for inclusion, including 280 (21%) of the attacks on children, 222 (60%) of the attacks on adults, 51 (34%) of the fatal attacks, and 321 (45%) of the maimings and disfigurements."

sorry ladies, 'pit bulls' get a "bad" wrap, because they ARE a bad wrap.

sorry Amanda, I did not mean to bring politics into your blog. You are lovely...and I enjoy your posts. For some reason I can't post as anonymous, so I open a new/random google account for this post. I fear as though I may loose readership on my blog, if I don't. Anyway, I am so glad that you are ok.

I left a comment for you at Morgan's blog, but I am glad that I read what you wrote here.

You must have been terrified and I pray that you are okay. What brought the encounter to an end?

That really is scary, I hate it when people get a dog without taking on the necessary responsability...

on the upside, I adore your look! the skirt is goooorgeous and very on trend.

Oh dear, I hope that you recover quickly! Stupid owners not taking responsibility for their dogs, makes me so frustrated. I am proud of you for fighting back, and I hope your story gets this owner sorted out and his dog taken to someone who can control/love it.

Oh my gosh Amanda! I had no idea you had been attacked!! That's really scary and I can't believe no one rushed out of the house to do anything. Irresponsible people with their dogs make me so angry. They don't understand that's is an animal that can attack and harm other people, no matter what. I'm so glad to hear that you are ok, you should definitely report them again especially because they are right across from the school, maybe someone will come and take the dog away from them and put it in a proper home.
So sorry, hope you're doing ok, mentally and physically.

Its so scary having that kind of dog around the neighborhood. I am glad you alright, though.

Thank goodness you are okay! That is so scary to hear. It is so irresponsible and cruel when people don't take care of their pets--you could have been hurt a lot worse! I hope the dog's owner finally takes some responsibility so no one else gets hurt!

wow, that is crazy. how are you doing? wow, I would be SO SO ANGRY. That dog needs to be put down. I am an animal lover, yes, but I am sorry, that is total BS. If there was a crazy dog anywhere near my child. ARGH. I am so mad for you. If I lived there I would be marching up their steps right now and yelling, and filing a police report. Seriously, if they have been warned this should be a CRIMINAL offence. How ridiculous.

ps. you look lovely lovely lovely in this phot.

pps. do follow up on how you are feeling and what happens with the dog.
