song of the day: 'i think i love you' by the partridge family
so this is the yves saint laurent blouse i found at the thrift a few weeks ago for only $5!!! i don't think i've ever owned something that was an actual name (since i am still not convinced of the authenticity of my 'balenciaga' bag). i know it really shouldn't be a big deal. i mean, am i really a slave to designers? do i feel as though i'm cooler and fancier somehow because i know what's on the tag of my shirt? well, yes. ha! i do feel awfully fancy driving around town in a mercedes, never mind that it's 26 years old, lost it's clear coat and the chrome trim on the passenger side so it looks as though there are bullet hole along the doors. but brands can make you feel and act a different way even if you don't want it to. and even though this blouse was someone's cast off, i feel very fortunate to have been the one to discover it hanging on the rack at salvation army. so there. i am shallow :)
