when the cold winds blow

snow day
song of the day: 'long black veil' by dave matthews band
we got a pretty good little snow storm overnight last night. good enough for a snow day for the whole family. those are the best. slept in, isaiah had a friend over for a couple hours, went to the store, ran, played in the snow....fun times. now we're about to make some lentil soup and drink some wine. sounds delightful, no?
i took a bunch of pictures on my phone while running and playing in the park but instagram is being a little cranky so i can't send them to flickr quite yet. when i get around to battling with the phone, i'll share those too. you'll get to see a bit more of my cute little town :)
and i hope you all know how much i appreciate the comments from yesterday. i never expected such a sweet response to the outfits i rejected. thanks!

OOoooh! Love that plaid cape with the dark grey jeans. I've been struggling with making jeans look cute lately, and this is just the sort of inspiration I need to spruce up an item that has been sneaking into my wardrobe more often with the colder it gets!

Oh wow I love a tartan cape and this one is exceptional! The cuddly scarf is the perfect shade of blue with this outfit - amazing:).

Gah! You look great girl! And your scarf---I swear this snow needs to stop here in New England b/c it is slowing down the delivery of my yarnover movement scarf!! So jealous!

Ooh, I love that cape, and I looooove how cozy you look!

And Lisa's right, I'm so jealous of your snow day! I think Chicago should get a cold day today, since its -17 degrees with windchill right now. No one should be outside!
