give it a shake

7.6
i'm starting to get restless again. wanting to shake things up. nothing big, just different. for instance, i want to do something new with my hair. i feel like i should just embrace the fact that i am not a long hair girl. i never wear it down so why not chop it? it's so hard to take the plunge though. and thinking about giving it a color again. that is such a tough one. i like easy to manage hair and maybe that's too much of a commitment. but something's gotta give.
and i'm thinking of changing my blog name. what are your thoughts on it? is it hard to follow the switch? would you stick with me if i did it? i know that last question seems a bit desperate. i'm just wanting to streamline my shop, blog, twitter, facebook, everything. ya know? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............

sunlight

7.5
bright pink is typically not a color i wear, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with this pleated maxi skirt. this was another find from the estate of a friend's grandma. it was so fun walking around in this skirt, feeling the fabric swish against my legs. i had to do some walking pics to show the movement. so very fun!
and it wasn't until i visited ms morgan's blog to read her latest post last night that i realized i basically ripped off one of her outfits (and lighting and location). so thanks morgan for the inspiration :)

a heart for women

victoria3
most of you have heard me talk about my heart for the women who are caught in sexual slavery. well victoria of justice pirate shares my same compassion. she has decided not to spend money on clothing in order to focus her attentions on her sons education and to spread awareness about forced prostitution and how so many others go without both stuff and hope. she then asked her readers who are etsy sellers if we'd be interested in allowing her to borrow an item from their shop and she'd wear it on her blog. well, i jumped at the chance to do this. i think victoria looks gorgeous in my skirt! she has such a beautiful vintage aesthetic that matches her beautiful heart. she talks much more about her decision on her blog and i would definitely encourage you to go and read up on it.
so, if you are interested, this skirt is available in my shop, and the money from the sale will be donated straight to the international princess project (IPP). IPP is an organization that is very near and dear to me. they work in india to release women from slavery and restore their dignity and independence by teaching them to sew. i sell their punjammies in my shop and last month was able to raise $280 for the women! that makes me pretty excited.

peanuts and cracker jacks

naturals baseball
what's more american than baseball? apple pie maybe, but we went the sports route and cheered on our arkansas naturals last night. it was stiflingly hot and our team lost 14-3 but we made loads of memories and had tons of laughs. after about 4 hours of game play, the local philharmonic put on a mini (read very long) concert full of patriotic tunes and then they set off some pretty glorious fireworks. we didn't leave the ball park until 10:30 and my poor kiddo was wiped out. we had to carry him to his bed and he went peacefully (and sweaty and sticky) to sleep. such a fun night.
living the high life
matt got the big boy for the game. in ball park terms this beer is quite a bargain.
sweet head
isaiah was really into the game for the first couple hours.

july 1st

6.30
i am in utter amazement that it's already july. seriously. i feel like there was two feet of snow on the ground just yesterday! ok, not really because it was pretty hot yesterday and i recall sweating a lot. but you know what i mean! this year is flying by.
i was really happy with this outfit when i left the house. i found these awesome granny shorts and the bag while on a thrifting trip the other day. unrolled, the shorts come down to my knees and are quite reminiscent of culottes. which i love, as you all may very well know, but these def needed to be shortened. i kind of adore them like this. and i'd been looking for a market bag for quite some time and although this one isn't authentic and whatnot, it was only like a dollar so no complaints here. and the shoes are from an estate that i bought loads of clothes from. one of these days i'll get all the stuff ready for the shop, until then it's just hanging out in my guest room closet. anyhow, the wedges are so super cute but by the end of the day all i could think about were my aching feet :( my tootsies were just not made for such things. but a great outfit they did make, and my legs do look awfully long........maybe they're not so bad after all??
anyway, i wanna say a happy canada day to all my sisters to the north. have a great time celebrating your beautiful country! and say hey to will and kate for me, eh?
