solstice

so i totally ruined this dress from the last time i wore it. ugh. the laundering instructions are nowhere to be found but i thought since it was second hand, it had been washed and dried......apparently not. i shrank the junk out of it. so now it is only appropriate paired with shorts or as a bathing suit cover up as it is being utilized here. i spent my afternoon lounging by my friends pool while the kiddos splashed and had a high time swimming. it was blasting hot and the perfect day to sip on iced tea and catch some rays. i was diligent about sunscreening my upper body but the legs not so much. i got a wee sunburn. but this morning it is pretty much gone and now just a bronzy tan.

and i stocked up on my salad greens at the farmers market already today and got some fresh peaches and local honey. i'm already looking forward to lunch! this longest day of the year is off to a great start. ahhhhh summer. i heart you.

father's day

we had a super busy and fun weekend, but yesterday was all about relaxing. matt is an amazing husband and father so i wanted to pamper him with good food and good drinks :) here's a glimpse into how we spent our father's day.

every year i make isaiah a shirt to wear. this is my favorite so far!

it was a great day that ended with us listening to the 90s station on pandora in the dark and talking about the good times. wish i could do it all over again :)

what matilda wore

matilda and isaiah are getting to be pretty good buddies. yeah, occasionally they bicker and fight, but for the most part they get along well. which is good. otherwise this would be a very long and stressful summer.

so a lot of what's seen here won't hit the etsy shop until tuesday. but oh my i have some goodies that i'll be listing in the coming weeks!!

homemade wonderful bread

so yesterday i tried my hand at baking my first loaf of gluten free bread. now, i'll admit to using a mix but still I MADE HOMEMADE BREAD!!! and boy howdy is it ever delicious. all told i had three pieces of it throughout the day. i've had udi's gf bread before, but you buy it frozen and it's pretty dry. if you don't toast it, it's no good. but this was moist and oh so tasty.

i bought bob's red mill gf homemade wonderful bread mix (this is not just a clever name). it has a mix of several different flours such as garbonzo, sorghum, and potato. some use almond flours but i also have a nut sensitivity so i have to steer clear of those. i added milk, 1 egg, a couple egg whites, veggie oil, and apple cider vinegar-stir, let rise, bake till golden brown. i let it cool for as long as i could stand it!! i sliced a bit off and paired it with my farmer's market greens and a hard boiled egg and iced tea. best lunch i've had in a while :)

and the boys even like this bread! seems i'm gonna become a baking queen.

thursday

it is a very gloomy and rainy thursday morning. my running club had to be cancelled and i'm thinking about brewing another pot of coffee. sounds like a delight, no? i may even try baking some gf bread today!!!!! whoa, am i really that ambitious?! only time will tell.

but this month is really ticking right along and i feel like most weekends in the foreseeable future are already planned out and packed out. kind of exciting!

just a few fun things about today:

i ran this morning.

my realtor showed our house (yay!!)

but then i couldn't shower because of house showing.

i went to the farmers market and bought more tasty lettuce.

took a lightning fast shower sans hair washing and leg shaving.

was very late to open the shop :(

wore a skirt the first half of the day.

hated it, so went home to change and go to the post office.

took pics.

edited them.

realized i wear blue striped shirts about once a week and that i wore this particular one just this past saturday.

then decided that trying too hard was just too hard.

happy that cut-offs and striped shirts are perfect on a hot summer day :)

i wasn't hideously excited about most of these photos. but instead of complaining about how i'm wearing my glasses so i think i look crazy and i'm going through a bit of a clothing slump where i hate EVERYTHING in my closet, i'll just say that i'm so thankful to have a blog that i love and readers who make it worth doing. seriously. it's true :)
