birthday

today is a very special day: my birthday.  for those of you who are interested, i am 29 plus 3.  yeah, i am still grappling with the notion that i'm getting older.  and i know that age is just a number and frankly i am a way better version of myself than i was in my twenties.  but it's still a difficult concept for me to grasp.  so i will spend today forgetting the number.  because you're only as old as you feel and i feel pretty stinkin' awesome.

wish lists

i like to keep a 'wish list' of sorts on my phone of items i want for a particular season so when i hit the thrifts i can keep focused on the prize.  i've already crossed off a number of things, like this camo tee and these black ankle boots.  but i've been jonesin' for a leopard clutch for a while and hadn't any luck for months of searching.  then i stepped into my sister's closet last weekend.  i oohed and ahhed over this sweet little bag so much that she told me to take it home.  score!!!

most of you know that i love football, and most specifically, patriots football.  as in, jersey wearing, jumping, screaming, fist pumping, fanatically crying love of the new england patriots.  and so my sweet friend jen (of jen loves kev) sent me this t-shirt in the mail last week.  when i opened the package, my eyes lit up.  i showed it to my son then put the shirt up to my face and he put his hands over his ears waiting for the inevitable squeal.  i was sooooooo excited about it!!!!  i couldn't wait to wear it with pride on friday (and then again on sunday afternoon.  seriously, i fear i may wear the thing down to bare threads).  there really is no better way to endear yourself to me than by giving me patriots gear.  ahhh, but my heart is heavy this morning coming off yet another devastating loss.  still, no matter what, i love my team and will wear my support proudly.  go pats!!!

in the event

i love when i find really awesome bleached out chambray shirts at the thrift.  and that i can generally find anything on my wish list for a certain season at second hand stores.  it's a thrilling hunt, every time i step into a charity shop.  like, what item of brilliance will i find today?  yes.  it is this skill that i think will serve me best in the event of a zombie apocalypse.  or at the very least, get me a really awesome bleached out chambray shirt.

so i spotted this cream vest at a local consignment shop last friday,  tried it on, talked myself out of purchasing it.  i proceeded to obsess over it the ENTIRE WEEKEND.  and of course they're closed on mondays.  so on TUESDAY i go back and frankly, i can't get it to the register fast enough.  now, i love it.  i envision it with my fur collar when the temps drop.  BUT.  i also have dreams of dyeing it, like maybe an army green or something.  comments or suggestions?  i welcome them all.

took an unexpected break from blogging.  but now i'm back and better than ever!!  well, i'm wearing a flouncy polka dot skirt.  that's something at least.  and not only that, but earlier in the day it was pretty windy and i may or may not have put on a show walking from my shop to my house.  i'm tellin' ya, there's always something wild happening in downtown siloam springs!

rainbows on my feet

i had a lovely weekend.  the heat made a delightful return just in time to wish summer an unofficial adieu.  spent lots of time hanging out on the deck in the evening with my sweetheart looking at the bright moon and listening to good tunes.  found these awesome striped shoes that, incidentally, are labelled 'amanda.'  and welcomed the fact that this week sees the start of football.  yep, it was a good one.
