summer evening

things are about to get pretty hectic in the orcutt household.  family is coming from out of town, friends are visiting, then we are traveling for the holiday next week.  it was nice to spend a quiet moment outside enjoying the sultry night air and some sweet tunes.  summer rules so hard.

double leopard is going to be the new double denim.  i'm starting it now.  yep, run go tell your friends that this is the trend of the century.  ok, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement.  but it's fun nevertheless.  and matt even said he liked this combo.  that's a win any day.  happy multi-print, monday!!

tie dye

i've been wanting to do some tie-dye for a while.  i remember creating some pretty rad designs with my mom back when i was a kid.  but then i got to thinking about the time it took and the mess it made and decided to thrift one instead.  so for only $2 i got a fabulous new tie-dye shirt and no mess to clean up.  win/win situation, if you ask me.

wrapped up in lines

not long ago, i was contacted by the nice folks at sugarlips apparel to participate in their blogger partnership program.  and i was more than thrilled when i received this dress from them last week.  it's soft, comfortable, and kinda sorta fits me to perfection.  matt was fairly impressed by it :)  and because it's such an edgy dress, we wanted to take photos in an area of town that would compliment it's lines and vibe.  i love how they turned out!  we had so much fun on this shoot.  we even got yelled at for being on private property!  ahhhh, good times.

sometimes i cook and sometimes it's awesome

k, so technically there wasn't any cooking involved in this dish, but i still had to assemble the stuff and it was still awesome.
shrimp ceviche:
medium precooked shrimp
juice about 4 or 5 limes
a bit of white vinegar
avocado
cucumber
tomatoes
white onion
cilantro
salt 
pepper
chill in fridge for at least an hour
serve with rice crackers or tortilla chips
we like to also douse it with lots of hot sauce or we make our own:

one bunch of cilantro
6 serrano peppers (or if you don't like it super spicy use jalepenos or just fewer peppers)
garlic
salt 
pepper
dash of olive oil
juice 1 lime
seriously, we eat this sauce on everything.  soooooooo good.

cut offs

i've been wearing these shorts pretty much non-stop.  no, they don't really fit.  no, they're not terribly flattering.  but i love them and they are just so very soft and comfy.  so you'll probs see them again.  i don't know, maybe tomorrow.  because when i like something, i wear the junk out of it.

another day, another tee

i am amassing quite the t-shirt collection.  what can i say?  i love 'em.  with this blog, i try to dress all fancy and stuff but i am truly a tee and jeans kinda girl.  well, tee and shorts at this time of year.  it's waaaaaaayyyyy too hot to even think of wearing pants.  geeze, i'd burst into flames!
