a new and glorious morn

coat
song of the day: 'o holy night'
this is one of my very favorite christmas songs. ah. it just warms my soul.
just thought i'd share with you my new jacket i just picked up at the thrift. it's a little sad that i'll have to leave it so soon after bringing it home. oh wait. i forgot. it's actually not sad at all. ha ha ha ha! i shouldn't rub it in that i'll be in the warmth and sunshine that is south florida because karma can easily bite me in the backside. like when i tried on this coat, i put my hands in the pockets and promptly pulled out a USED kleenex. yeah, that's right. merry christmas to me!
but anywhoooo, i will be blogging a bit while on my sojourn to the south. i don't know how often or anything, but i just know that if i don't at all, i will most definitely get the shakes. i have major withdrawal issues if you can't tell.

i've been an awful good girl

12-17
song of the day: 'santa baby'
friday. and the friday before vacation!! does it get any better than that?
and we're having our little family christmas in the morning and i can't wait. i love seeing isaiah open his presents. that sweet little greedy look in his eyes......it's priceless :)
i do want to report that my stocking is looking sadly empty. i'm not sure what's up with that. so darling, this is just a friendly reminder to you that christmas is tomorrow!!!!!!!!
there is an ever so small chance of flurries overnight tonight. of course i'll believe it when i see it but that would be so amazing! to have a little dusting of snow on the ground to celebrate christmas morning. so here's hoping!

new old fashioned way

12-16
song of the day: 'rockin around the christmas tree'
almost totally done with my christmas shopping!!!! i'll be very thankful when everything i bought on etsy gets here and when i finish up the last two gifts. then it'll just be smooth sailing til christmas.
matt's sister and her family are coming over tonight for some 'damn hot peppers' and presents. if you're wondering why i'm cursing it's because that's the name of the dish that matt's making. it's sooo good. he cooked the peppers last night and the house still smells like them (yum). it has bell peppers and jalepenos and this time we added serrano peppers. and they cook down with some tomatoes and then you pour the cooled mixture over some browned potatoes and eggs. top with cheese and serve with cold beer. it's amazingly good and perfect on a cold night. i must remember to take pictures to share with you guys. that's something i need to work on, taking more random photos. and it starts tonight!

in the meadow

12-15
song of the day: 'winter wonderland'
well i wish i could build a snowman in this meadow, but alas i won't see snow until next year (sad face).
i truly think i'm flat out trespassing on this property. i'm not trudging through the woods or anything, it's right off the road. but the main driveway is about 20 yards from this spot and a van came down it this morning and slowed to see what i was doing. hopefully they weren't calling in my license plate number.
this week feels like it's crawling by. is it that way for anyone else? ugh. vacation can't come soon enough!

blue christmas

12-13
song of the day: 'blue christmas'
my goodness you guys, it is cold outside. and i know i shouldn't complain because at least we don't have 2 feet of snow on the ground, but i'm still awfully chilled. i just hope south florida is extra hot when we get there.
i'm feeling the pressure to finish up my christmas shopping. there's still a couple people i'm not quite done with and i'm getting anxious. i don't want to get stressed out by it, because that's not what all this gift giving is about. but i know i'm starting to run out of time. part of it has to do with my procrastinating nature, but then some of it has to do with total lack of ideas. ha! i laugh because if i don't i'll cry and i'm trying to keep it jolly, folks!

the party's on, the feelin's here

christmas
song of the day: 'wonderful christmas time'
i just wanted to share with you guys some of my christmas decorations. i don't put up much, but what i do i think is cute (if i do say so myself). as i've said before, our christmas tree is actually a lime tree that we have to bring in when the weather turns too cold. i don't want to have two trees in my home so we throw lights on this one and call it good.
christmas
the little paper bags are kind of an advent calendar. i put small toys, books, or activities inside them and isaiah gets to open one each day leading up to christmas. there's only 17 because we'll be headed to florida after that.

i think i change our stockings every year. this time around i used the bags that my punjammies came in (and if you want to know more about punjammies, just click on the link!) much of my decorations, just like my gifts, are either handmade or second hand. i made little paper snowflakes and strung up some vintage doilies.
christmas
probably the coolest thing is our old lionel train set. it's the set that matt grew up with and his parents gave it to us last year. isaiah loves it and he and matt will play 'trains' all night long. it winds around the tree and goes through the tunnel. it's just good old-fashioned christmas fun.
