when i got dressed yesterday, isaiah said 'mom, you look weird in those shoes. you look like a teenager.' no lie, that made my day.

like a rolling stone
it is officially summer break up in here. this still seems outrageous to me. where did the year go? i can't even really answer that question. but i can tell you that i am super excited to not set my alarm each night and i'm counting down the days till the pool opens. i have high hopes for this summer. here's to it living up to my expectations.

extreme glamping
extreme:
there was the purchase and use of a machete. firewood thievery. late night yelling. wasp killing. intense card games. deep philosophical discussions.
glamping:
stayed in a cabin with full kitchen, a bedroom and bathroom. drank wine and bourbon. had deliciously grilled pork and steak. i wore full makeup and jewelry and took 3 showers. spent much of the day saturday in town thrifting, eating lunch, grabbing fancy coffees.
you know, just the usual stuff that happens on the annual orcutt/pace camping trip. memorable as ever :)

general shenanigans
i can't think of much to say. probably because it's friday and i'm getting ready for an awesome weekend of camping with friends. it is sure to be a fun-filled time of card games, bonfires, tasty food and drink, music, farmer's marketing, and general shenanigans. there may even be a dip in the lake involved. i dunno though, sounds risky. but you only live once.
have good one.

painted shoes
i painted my shoes. just with regular old acrylic craft paint, using masking tape to keep my lines straight. it took about four or five coats to get it just right. but i sure do like how it came out and it only cost me $1.97. a little bit proud of myself. i had thought about taking photos of it for a cute DIY post, but really, i'm not very careful in my preparations or in my execution. i didn't want to lead you all astray when perhaps there's a better way to do this. but i will say that if you have a pair of sad and drab shoes laying around the house, you should totally paint them.
and while i'm giving all this sage advice, don't wear a velour top on an 80 degree day in a car with no a/c. even though it's really cute, you will sweat like a beast.
