i think i'll go outside a while

10-18
song of the day: 'it's a beautiful morning' by the rascals
monday mornings. it's just so hard to get excited about them. and i just want to say that i came home damp and dirty from my little trist in the meadow. but these are the sacrifices we make in the name of blogging, right?
and now i have to get ready to run 14 miles. i'm not necessarily dreading it, but i know that it will take me a little more than 2 hours and that just seems like a long time. it is really. i mean, you could watch a full length movie in the time it will take me to run! but that's what i do. and now i better go do it.
have a super awesome monday!

well brunettes are fine man

red
song of the day: 'red headed woman' by bruce springsteen
k, so if you follow me on twitter, you may have heard that on friday i colored my hair. this marked the first time i've ever had an all over color. and I LOVE IT!!!!!! it came out just perfect. i wanted a dark auburn that would go well with the season but also not be so great a contrast from my natural brown to be odd or ugly between colorings. i am just smitten with it. it makes me feel sassy. and i think my eyes look more blue and i one thing i'm super proud of are my blue eyes.
yesterday was a super busy day. i began the morning running in a 5k race that started literally outside my front door. it was a great atmosphere and a great cause. it was a race to benefit families who want to adopt by giving them grants to help pay for all the fees associated with the adoption process. this was the second year and the family who got the grant from last year, was there with their new baby. it was pretty cool. plus, i was the second female finisher! i almost got first, but it was a friend of mine who passed me at the end and i just couldn't hold her off. it was a great race and i felt good and ran my fastest time ever. about 22 minutes. the actual course measurement was off so we ended up running 3.4 miles instead of 3.1 so that's why i don't know my real 5k time. but it was so awesome, i was just picking people off while running. that's my favorite: start in the middle of the pack and just beat everyone out on the course. it was fun.
then i went to visit my mom. it was a pretty sweet time with her. she will probably go home from the hospital tomorrow or wednesday and i can't wait to see her at home again! i feel like it's been so long.
then i went to a birthday party and then home. i had a glass of wine and then fell asleep on the couch. i was exhausted after such a busy day. so today, i am just relaxing. sunday's are so good for that. hope you all had a good weekend!

set way back in the middle of a field

dirt road
song of the day: 'love shack' by the b-52's
doesn't this dirt road look so serene and peaceful? you would really think so if you'd have seen the group of deer grazing in the grass a little further up the road. i couldn't get a good view of them from where i was or i'd have taken a picture. i didn't want to disturb their breakfast though. it was awfully chilly on this dirt road as well. we even had some frost this morning. really? frost? it's a bit too early in the year for that business, but frost there was.
this road is right in front of the farm house that matt and his friends rented for a couple years in college. boy did we have some fun parties then! it wasn't quite as peaceful out there on a friday or saturday night. on any given weekend, we would have dance parties out on the patio that would last long into the night. it really was the perfect party location. not many houses around to get annoyed with the noise and extra traffic. lots of trees surrounding the house for privacy. we had lights strung up and we'd blast salsa music and grill and have a few (or more) drinks. ahhh, good times. :)

i know your eyes in the morning sun

bridge
song of the day: 'how deep is your love' by the bee gees
siloam has miles of walking trails all through town with these really cute little bridges that span the creek. i run on these trails and over these bridges all the time and thought it would be nice to take pictures of them. this isn't my favorite one. i'll have to get matt to take those pictures because the location is a bit more awkward. but i love how quaint these bridges are. i love the sound my feet make when i run across them. i love to hear the water flowing underneath them. it just feels very charming to me. and i do live in a very charming little corner of the world.
but let me just tell you about this couple that was totally scoping me out the whole time i was taking my outfit shots! so funny. the lady was outside doing something by their deck when i got to the bridge. i set up my tripod and checked out the frame of the photo and then i walked in front of the camera and saw that she was staring at me. bold faced staring. not even turning away when i looked over. then she and her dude came walking over, pretending to look at flowers and stuff along the path. i said 'hi' and tried to be cordial whilst they were completely in my shot so i had to wait. then they got to the end of the bridge, turned around and started walking back home. not to judge or anything, but they didn't look the type to go on a walk at 8:30 am for health's sake. they were totally just nosing around trying to figure out what the heck i was doing. but i just boldly kept snapping away once they left the bridge. i am SO not the shy little gal that i was a few weeks ago! love it. i guess that's what happens when you get older :)
i have to talk about these jeans though. i love them so very much. i'd been looking for a pair of high waisted wide leg jeans all over the place. i finally found them on ebay! i had a gift card for my birthday so i used it to buy these. i've just never been so thrilled with a pair of jeans. i fell for their back pocket detail and the denim is so soft and comfortable. and the brand is 'disco jeans.' isn't that so awesome?! don't be surprised if start dancing ala 'saturday night fever' before the day is done.

song of the day: 'hallelujah' by jeff buckley
this morning was so gorgeous! foggy and cool. for some reason, the fog and damp in the air make the leaves that much more vibrant. i think these are my favorite autumn moments. i love waking up when it's still a bit dark and then discovering a blanket of fog over everything that takes a few hours to clear up. it's cool and misty but not cold and the air just wraps around you. makes the coffee taste that much better :)
i don't really have a lot to say today. i think the fog may be clouding my brain a bit. but i hope you all have a lovely day and that you take the opportunity to savor a moment.

when the west wind moves

field
song of the day: 'fields of gold' by sting
you guys i am having so much fun taking my camera on the road! this morning, i just grabbed my stuff and drove around until i found a place. i knew i wanted something more nature-ish since i do so much in the middle of town. anyway, i found this field and thought it was the perfect photo spot. i may be returning to this one.
this outfit is just so 'me.' it's like my clothing comfort zone: dress, boots, tights, big cozy sweater. which is funny since taking pictures out and about is getting me beyond my comfort zone. but anyway, this is something that just feels good. sometimes you don't want to worry about trying to look super fashionable or hip or cool or whatever buzz word the kids use today and you just want to be you. and this is it for me.
and i want to thank you all for your awesome comments. i love it when you respond to the things i talk about in my posts. it makes me feel good that you read what i have to say and not just look at the pictures. plus, it's so great to connect with you guys. i love hearing your stories and what's going on in your lives. keep them coming. they really mean more than you know :)
