when i see you smile, i see a ray of light (oh oh)

song of the day: 'when i see you smile' by bad english
i got a hair cut yesterday, can you tell? i was only expecting to cut a little bit and this is what i got. see i'm unlike most people and when i'm at home i think i'll only get a trim, but then when i'm in the salon, i want something crazy and drastic. i was ready to do something wild and cut it all off! it's probably a good thing that my stylist didn't listen to me. i'd be upset otherwise. but i've realized that as much as i want long flowing locks, my hair just isn't right for it. it's sad really.
how about my diy shirt? i bought this top in louisiana and it was just a little intense as a full on sweatshirt so i thought how much i'd love to have an off the shoulder slouchy shirt ala the 80s. out came the scissors (i know, big surprise). it's so comfy and i love it! but it did feel a bit odd and maybe a little trashy last night when i changed into some short soffe shorts, drank a beer straight outta the bottle while ironing matt's shirts with my shoulder all exposed. oh well, this is arkansas.

song of the day: 'i think we're alone now' by tiffany
i love that episode of full house when dj and stephanie want to watch tiffany live from tokyo but their dad doesn't want them to. well, they get uncle joey to let them stay up late and watch. in the middle of doing some rad dance moves, dad comes home and uncle joey says 'don't think we're alone now.' that there was some good tv.
this dress is a long skirt that was in my shop for a while and no one picked it up. it's a bit too big for me to wear at my waist but as i was looking at it the other day, i realized that it may fit me as a dress. whammo! it fits. and it works quite well with the gorgeous scarf i got from merl when i got my fabulous clyde's rebirth harness! some things just come together. well all except the weather. not too long after this pic was taken, the heavens opened up and the rain came down, in torrents. you can't win them all.

song of the day: 'holding out for a hero' by bonnie tyler
good song, no? thankfully i've already found my hero :)
i wore this to church this morning and then afterwards matt and i went behind the chiropractor's building.... to take pictures!! jeepers, get your minds out of the gutter! anyway, i didn't realize that they had a blue door back there. pretty cool. kinda dirty, but cool nonetheless.
i bought this dress from my favorite thrift store from the junior's section all hidden away and waiting for me to discover it. it's so super 90s with it's high neck and sheer top with the lace! ah, good stuff.
i'm watching 'the notebook' right now while writing this. not sure why cuz i don't really like it, but for some reason i can't turn it off. it's taken me like a half hour to write this post because i'm so super absorbed in this stupid movie! i think it's really that i don't want to like it and want to think i'm above sappy romantic movies. i'm not. there i admit it. i like sappy movies! and books. well i like books that are heartbreakingly romantic. like 'the time traveler's wife' and my favorite of all time the outlander series. anyone know of other books like those? i'm in the market. i'm reading 'the reader' right now and hoping it picks up. but it's really short and i'm gonna need something else soon.

song of the day: 'making love out of nothing at all' by air supply
man i love this song. when it comes on my ipod, i really crank up the volume and belt it out like a rock star. i really need to get this on vinyl.
i am so ready for this week to be over! matt has been working crazy hours and i miss him. wednesday he got home at 1:30 in the morning! plus, i have just about reached my quota of mother/son time. he's adorable and i love him, but mom's ready for a break! and i know matt's super tired and stressed with all the projects he has to get finished. saturday afternoon cannot come soon enough!
and in other more bizarre news, the water pressure in the shower has mysteriously changed and now if feels like i'm showering in a hail storm. it whips around the curtain liner and the steam is suffocating. and it changed all on it's own! very strange.

sorry about the randomness of this post. anyway, i wore my scarf kinda tucked into my pants because i don't really like this shirt. and i've seen some other gals sport something similar. i like how it turned out. and i love the light in the photos too. i'm certain i couldn't recreate it if i tried.

song of the day: ' the safety dance' by men without hats
this is such an awesome song! for some reason i use lines from it all the time. isaiah likes to dance and and play around and i'll just tell him 'we can dance if we want to.' i don't know, maybe that's only funny to me.
i bought this dress in louisiana from a salvation army. it was once longer and i cut it maybe a touch too short. then i had to hem it and there goes another inch. yikes! oh well. i tried to compensate for the short hemline with the flat shoes. i think it worked out okay. and since it's linen the thing got so wrinkly! i kinda look a mess in the pictures. man, two strikes against this dress but i'm still wearing it. i like the sleeves. i have a thing for cool sleeves, you know. and i think the color makes me look tan.

song of the day: 'jessie's girl' by rick springfield
i wish matt's name was jessie. that would be so cool. but then again i already have an 80s song about me. i guess i'm just being greedy. but still it would be cool.

i wasn't terribly excited about how these came out. it has nothing to do with my sweet photographer, he did a great job. it was me. i was being excruciatingly unphotogenic. bleh.
i'm wearing a combination of sweatpants and terry cloth. in my opinion, when you put accessories with something, and a pair of total rad shoes, you can get away with loungewear being daily wear. am i right? well i think so anyway.
i have a great idea for another giveaway! turns out i really love giving you guys stuff so in the next week-ish i'll be telling you all about it. it'll be different than the others in terms of how you enter, but i promise it'll be super fun.
alright, go and have a wonderful day!

song of the day: 'can't fight this feeling' by reo speedwagon
one day last week matt came home with an reo speedwagon record. i've been rockin' out to it ever since. such a great band. this week is the big walmart shareholders meeting (matt works for walmart by the way) and they are coming to town for a concert. man i want to go see it! we get free tickets to the concerts. a few years ago we took my dad to see the eagles when they came. that was a great time, right there. anyway, i digress, reo speedwagon-great band.
did everyone (in the states) have a great memorial day? mine was strange and unlike any that i've ever had. matt had to go into work to get a video edited for the meeting and was gone most of the day. then we each took turns running when he got home. then i made pizza. pizza? yep, on the biggest grilling holiday of the year. strange. but matt did take pics for me on the roof! and i was able to get some hemming done of thrifted stuff that was just littering the bed of my guest room so it wasn't a total waste of a day.

ok so matt is totally into jumping pictures right now. a lot of them were inappropriate as my dress kept coming up a bit too high but i think this one turned out pretty good.
and i promise to wear different shoes. these are just too comfortable!
