song of the day: 'independent woman' by destiny's child
i hope you all had a great weekend! we went to visit my parents and finally have christmas with them. that was super fun. isaiah got some really cool games and movies. my dad picked out a gorgeous sweater for me and matt and i both got money to spend. we are pretty pumped about that. it actually works out great to have christmas a month later. spreads out the cheer ya know?

so on friday, i kinda took some outfit pics in my shop. a lot of you had been asking about what it looks like and even though i've done a post on it before, it changes all the time so i thought it time for an update.

my shop is a lot like my house. it's not perfect or super girly and sweet. it's more eclectic and quirky and most definitely doesn't take itself too seriously. and i love it :)

this is where matilda spends most of her days when she's not out on the town. i have some great windows (which are a little dirty right now because my window washer is lazy) and they bring in a ton of natural light and give me plenty of display space.

what matilda wore

matlida was thinking spring last week. with the warmer temps, she wanted to try some softer, paler colors and really play up the florals. she certainly enjoyed basking in the sun through the window during this respite from the cold.

because friday was so fine a day, matilda got all dressed up and ventured over to the gallery next to the shop to take in some art and refresh her mind and her creative spirit. who knows, she may be taking more day trips in the coming weeks so you can see what she wears out on the town.
the etsy store will be updated later today with a few of the pieces seen here :)

pull out some hope for me

song of the day: 'long day' by matchbox 20
ah...it's friday. and around here, that means there's no food in the house. seriously. i had peanut butter and honey on the last piece of pita bread for breakfast this morning. but that's nothing that a trip to the grocery can't fix so i have no need to complain. especially since it's gonna be in the 60s the next two days!!!!!!!!!!!! i know, what the heck right? so awesome. but the bottom's gonna fall out on the temps next week. so i'll soak up as much warmth and sunshine as i can to tide me over till spring. i'll even try to bottle it and send it up north :)

song of the day: 'blue skies' by ella fitzgerald
thanks for all the get well wishes the other day! they must have done the trick because i'm feeling a ton better.
yesterday afternoon, i took outfit pictures at the end of my friend's driveway! interesting, huh? well, i picked up her daughter from school and after dropping her at home, i decided to whip out the tripod and snap a few. of course isaiah was with me too and that always makes for an interesting photo shoot. he was in so many of the shots that i either cropped out or didn't use. he was playing in the gravel and throwing sticks around and basically making mayhem in the background. boys.
but unlike you unfortunates in the northeast, we've had gorgeous weather the last few days. sunny and clear skies and much warmer temps. gives me the hint of spring....

just thinking of the right words to say

cape
song of the day: 'the promise' by when in rome
i found this cape at goodwill last friday. i love it! and it came into my life at just the right time. i'm seemingly battling some nasty cold/hideous sore throat and the cape acts like a stylish snuggie. and with this sickness has come brain cloudiness. i can't seem to think in coherent sentences right now. i've just been drinking loads of tea and gone through half a bag of cough drops. ugh. ready for winter to be over!!!!!!!!

whiter shade of pale

friday
song of the day: by procol harum
i had such a lovely long weekend. school was out on thursday and friday and even matt got to stay home from work. now i know that you northerners scoff at our 'snow days,' but we don't get them very often and so when it does snow, it's a BIG DEAL. but we slept in, spent the days relaxing and thrifting, and the evenings cooking tasty food, sipping wine and watching movies. sound delightful? well it was.
now it's monday. lame.

i took these pictures from the car. the sky was wonderfully cloudy and the trees were drab and bare. i thought it was gorgeous.

what matilda wore

matilda
matilda
matilda really stepped up her game last week. exploring new fashion horizons with the menswear inspired sweater with necktie look. she had a thing for polka dots too. and showing off her cheeky side with the catholic school sweater (and we all know it's been a while since she's been a co-ed).
most of what you see matilda wearing will be available in ye old etsy shop soon!
